Still Don't Believe??

Are you one of those that STILL trying to make excuses for The Denver Broncos success??
 ( Specifically, Concerning Tim Tebow??)

He's not a Tom Brady...

He isn't a Rothlisburger...

His Defense is the one doing all the work... ( The Defensive Line DOES keep them in the game, but, please...)

He's more like a Vince Young... ( WHAT the HECK??? *SMH* I totally dont know what is up with that comment!)

Let me Clue you in....

Its a little something called LEADERSHIP

Wikipedia Defines Leadership as:

Leadership has been described as the “process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task".[1]

Another Definition of Leadership : ( via Leadersdirect.com)

Leadership = promoting new directions by example or advocating by a better way. It works through influence, not by making decisions for people.

Its NOT  about being the BEST athlete.. ( which by the way is improving He has thrown 4 1,290 yds, has 11 TD only 2 Int's With a QB rating of 83.9 in the last 8 Starts! but I digress)

It's ABOUT LEADERSHIP

I don't Seem to Recall this happening with Kyle Orton at the Helm.

With The ENTIRE Team's Effort, Tim Tebow as Quarterback of the Denver Broncos has managed to do what John Elway couldn't on his own( I gasp typing this being an OLD SCHOOL Broncos fan)

What John Fox couldn't do on his own, what Brian Xanders, Joe Ellis, or Pat Bowlen couldn't do on their own!

But, with His  "leadership skills" has managed to pull together what was in such disarray from the disaster that was left behind from Josh Mc Daniels.

As a Lifelong Denver Broncos Fan, I couldn't be happier!!

So, go ahead and continue to think up excuses & reasons for the Denver Broncos Success.

You'll realize your Foolishness sooner or later!

Random thoughts about Tim Tebow

I AM SO PUMPED!!!

I dont think I have EVER in my ENTIRE LIFE Been SO PROUD of my QB, or to call myself a Broncos FAN!

I am So Proud of my Quarterback such an OUTSTANDING example of what it means to be a Christ Follower , a Player in the NFL. Such a bold stand for your Faith week after week, on that kind of Stage is something very commendable. For me it all boils down to this answer to Rich Eisen's Question:

Rich Eisen:" It really is remarkable what all this has become, I know your Used to a certain level of fame from the college level, but what you have been able to accomplish in just 5 starts is truly amazing to people on the out side so, now I'd like to just lift the hood so to speak & see how your able to keep this all in perspective"

Tim: "It is very exciting & we're very excited about the wins we've been able to put together but, I think, in what you were elluding to earlier, just with the support I think, the greatest thing for me is we play a game out here & we're very passionate as you can see me playing out here today, & I love it & I care about it, but, the greatest thing about this sport, & the NFL is we have such a platform, & we can take that platform & we can influence the next generation, & honestly that is my Passion, this week we got to announce that I was building a hospital in the Philippines, and this game here means alot, but, that hospital means more to me, cause that's changing peoples lives, that's giving people faith, & hope & love and thats more important. So, my ultimate goal with this, with playing football, Is to be a great role model, that a parent can look at their son and say, that's someone whos trying to do it the right way, he's not perfect, but, every day he's trying to do a little bit better, & Honor God, do the right thing, do whats's right, & do his best".

WOW!

An NFL Player that Understands & Uses his Influence in the NFL to Fulfill the Great Commission!
Amazing! even if I hadn't been a Denver Broncos Fan all of my Life, He would have my Utmost Respect!

Direction, Motivation, & #SMBFW

I totally just made one of the best decisions regarding my future & career path today by attending #SMBFW!

Ok, so your saying... "What the heck is #smbfw? & why do I care?"

#smbfw stands for Social Media Breakfast Fort Wayne. It is a group of like-minded Individuals from all-over Fort Wayne that meet once a month, usually, with a speaker or 2, to network, share & learn from each other about Social Media.

The reason why I say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made, is because the topics discussed Today were about The Best of Blog Indiana which is a 2- day Conference held once a year in Indianapolis. The Hashtag if you care is #bin2011.

Everything that was shared today by the people that attended this years conference 100%  affirmed to me that I am TOTALLY on the right track  with the progress I have made in the last few years personally, professionally, & in my Blogging & learning to blog!

This is a overwhelming & wonderful confirmation of the direction of the path that I have felt God has had me on pretty much since I have started this Blog!!

I am SO Excited!!! Cant wait for what's next!!!

Change is our friend... Or is it??

Arrrgg!! What is the deal with the Social Media sites & the global sweeping changes lately?? I never used to think I was a person that was particularly resistant to change, but then this app had a Huge update ( which is why I haven't posted lately! An excuse I know! But work with me here!! ) which required me to re-enter all of my sign in info! Grrr! Then, Facebook decided to have a complete & total, headache inducing Identity crisis!!!! Oh well... I guess I gotta put on on my big girl panties & move on with life!
Doesn't mean I have to like it though!

Cultivating patience

Yesterday I was feeling kinda grouchy, touchy, & all around impatient! It was one of those days; that every little thing that anyone did just rubbed me the wrong way! My Daughter dragging her feet doing her chores... People driving way below the speed limit for no apparent reason on my way to work ( even though I had plenty of time to get there) all seemed to light my fire of impatience & cause frustration to well WAY up inside of me to the point I was going to explode in a very ugly way on the next unsuspecting, possibly innocent individual. It wasn't until I got to work at my second job,( at a Family Christian stores) where I was doing my best to deal with a couple of ladies who came in & asked for a certain book, only to let themselves be side tracked by someone else when I started to show them where it was.

Ok, I thought & went back to what I was doing, only to have the same ladies came back several minutes later & interrupt me in the middle of helping another customer "Excuse, me" she said as she leaned over the counter getting right in my face as she said it. " "Can you show me where that book is now?" I told her I would be right with her as soon as I am done with the lady I am presently helping" So finding that mildly annoying, I finished up with the customer I was helping & helped them.

Now, they wanted to know if we had another book ( we didn't) & they couldn't find the books they originally asked about.

I showed them where they were bitting many holes in my tongue, smiling & being polite to them. Before leaving one of them asked me if I could find a book for them, but, they couldn't remember the name of the book or author. I politely told them that I was not able to look up a book if they didn't know at least the author or the title. The lady said can't you look up the book from members card? I reassured her that the card didn't work that way., & if she didn't know at least the title or author I couldn't help them. The other lady said " well, do you know if another bookstore would carry those books??" I told her that Barnes & Noble might. They thanked me for all my help & left. Right after that I felt that little whisper from the Holy Spirit about how God uses those kind of experiences to cultivate patience in us.

I giggled when I realized the truth of that thought. So now, whenever I am in a situation like that, or any other one that I am tempted to become impatient or frustrated I just have to remind myself that this is just a situation that God is using to cultivate patience within me!!

Kids!

Kids!

They make you want to pull your hair out sometimes!

Ok, a lot of the time!!

I love my kids with all my heart; but, I really struggle with them in the area of letting them suffer the consequences of their own actions! Especially when it's something that I know that they know about that they have been told to do .. Ask to do... nagged about, gotten privileges taken away over... & over, & over..... Especially, when I know that those consequences are huge! don't they know that it's much easier to be a quick learner? But, then again, I think that this more of a Lesson of learning to treat my kids the way God treats us.

(whew!)

I guess if it means that I have to listen to very off key singing for things to be accomplished, it's worth it! Because the alternative isn't so pretty at all!

And that my friends; is the thing I think God is trying to teach me!

I just wish is wasn't such a painful lesson!

Google+

Ok.. in an Effort to jump start my Blogging again... I am going to pick some things that I have found lately. These things are Sites, Apps, and other things that seemed cool at the time, but, are just not holding my Interest now, for one reason or the other....

First on the list! Google +

I did wait when this first came out... I didn't jump at first offer of something new and cool. I waited... a couple weeks at least, not wanting to be a part of the craze of being first on it; like Google voice. I finally got an invite and was really jazzed about it at first. Sure, I couldn't figure what all the Hype was about... not alot of my friends were on it, but, There was sparks! ( a feature you could have articles fed to your page that interest you,) & hangouts, ( places you could have webcam chat with your friends) That I thought were pretty cool! But, as time went by, my Interest waned. Then Google + implemented Games; one of which included angry birds. I thought "Cool, That's something that will hold my Interest a little bit more." But, when I went to go try it, i could not find a link on my Page. I do see that there is an option there now.. so maybe I will try it. But, overall... I am Less than Impressed with it!

What do you think??

Songs that Inspire me & otherwise Light my Fire!!

Sometimes, You Hear a Song that Lights a Fire Underneath you & gets you SO excited you want to Jump Up and Down!! Well, This is One of those Songs for me!! You'll notice that if you have been following this Blog for very long that This is a Heartbeat Passion of Mine!!!!

I Refuse!! This Song Pretty Much Sums up How I feel about Serving Others!! ( I Will List the Lyrics on the Bottom)

I Refuse
Sometimes I, I just want to close my eyes
And act like everyone's alright
When I know they're not
This world needs God, but it's easier to stand and watch
I could pray a prayer and just move on
Like nothing's wrong

But I Refuse

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move
But I refuse

I can hear the least of these, crying out so desperately
And I know we are the hands and feet of You, oh God
So if You say move, it's time for me to follow through
And do what I was made to do
And show them who You are

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move
But I refuse

I refuse to stand and watch the weary and lost cry out for help
I refuse to turn my back and try and act like all is well
I refuse to stay unchanged, to wait another day to die to myself
I refuse to make one more excuse

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move
But I refuse

Here's the Story that Inspired this Song!!

My Kids are doing this at their Youth Group

I am SO Proud of my Kids!!  They are even giving up going to the Mother-Daughter Banquet that they have been Looking forward to going to with me. I don't care because this exactly the kind of thing I want my Kids to be about. I want them to learn to step out of themselves & serve others, rather than focus on themselves &  their wants. Finding the Hole in Me (session 2 from The Hole in our Gospel)

This Session is called Finding the hole in Me. What are we doing to embrace the Whole Gospel so we dont  leave a Hole in the Gospel? This is all about that. Finding out what our purpose that God created us to be on this Earth, so we are showing the world the WHOLE Gospel, & not just part of it.

Like it our not, we are judged by "walk" not JUST the things we talk about.
My Pastor in his Sermon, posed  a few questions that I am going to keep in front of me all the time because I want to be able to answer Yes to God when I am Asked them. They are :

Did you Live from the Life Christ died to give You?

&

How did you respond to the People God put in your path?

God Says in Mathew 25 that When you treat the Least of these the way you would treat him, that you are doing them to Him. So, in light of that how ARE we treating the People that God puts in our path? This isnt refering to the Easy people that we like, its the Difficult people that Smell because they are homeless, Dont have a place to live, the Person that is a Prostitute that doesnt know any other life, the Homeless child stealing food because they have nothing to eat.

So, what exactly am I doing with all that God has blessed me with? Will I at the End of my Life be able to Stand before God and say that I used all that he blessed me with to be a blessing to others? or will I find out that I fell far short of the mark?

WHEW! that's enough to keep you up late at nights if you were a worrier! Thankfully for me, long before i had ever heard about this book, God was Dealing with me on EXACTLY this topic!!

I think its the coolest thing on how God reveals his purpose for our lives, a little bit at a time. Kinda like bread crumbs in the forest. ( or at least that is how its been to me)

Way back in June of 2009 I participated in a Group Blogging Project on a Book called Servolution

That was when I can remember the first time I remember God starting to open my eyes to the purpose he had for my Life. Over the following months I would get bits and pieces of the general idea of the path he was taking me on.

He first used this song that I Blogged about in March of 2010 The song is called "Give me your eyes" By Brandon Heath. It came on the Radio on my way home from Church that Sunday and I was singing along with it, I felt the Holy Spirit tap me on the shoulder ( figuratively, of course) and seem to say " Listen to those words again, do you REALLY hear what it says?

Talk about a Light Bulb Moment!! ( Here's that Blog Post)

I always know that when I see a verse of scripture, referred to over and over in several different places & things I'm watching, things I'm reading, conversations I'm having, that's God saying "listen up! this is something I want you to get" So, when I saw matthew 25 referred to everywhere I went, I had my Listening ears on!!

Sure, you say, I'm so happy that you have realized some of what God wants you to do, but, what does the mean to me?

I'm glad you asked! It means engaging people from the healthiness of Christ, not from our dysfunction, & doing things for the least of these the way we would for Jesus. Figuring out what it is that we CAN do, & doing it, so we can change the world with the little part that everyone can play.

The Hole in our Gospel Session 1

The Hole in Our Gospel - CoverImage by compulsiveguile via Flickr
The Hole In the WHOLE

This book & study refers to the "Hole" in our Gospel meaning, that maybe somewhere along the way we got sidetracked from sharing the "Whole" Gospel, & figuring out what it is that God expects of us.

The "Hole" Refers to the fact that in our efforts to Evangelize,& spread the Gospel, we seem to have boiled it down to a sort of "fire insurance" that a person can get by saying the Sinners Prayer, but, then they can go back and live their lives as usual, weather they were rich or poor, as long as they have the golden ticket, or check mark on their card, they are set for life. But, this limited way of thinking isnt the "whole gospel" But, a big, gaping hole"

The "WHOLE" Gospel is much more than Personal Salvation of Individuals, it means  considering a total Paradigm shift in how we think of what God actually expects of us.God didnt just save us FROM something, GHe saved us FOR something.

The "WHOLE" Gospel Includes justice, mercy, & faithfulness. Micah 6:8 Says:

Micah 6:8 MSG - YouVersion.com

8 But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.

So, how does this play  out in our lives? It means that instead of just SAYING we care about others, it means we get out in the community and Serve the poor, & the needy by meeting the needs we CAN meet, because  not everyone can do everything, but, everyone can do SOMETHING.

We were created by God for God to carry out his purpose on earth, & that means that we need to be concerned about the needs of others around us.

The "Whole" Gospel also means that we must not let the government step in and & do what we as the church are called to do.

Psalm 82: 3-4 Says
“Give justice to the poor and the orphan;
uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.

4 Rescue the poor and helpless;
deliver them from the grasp of evil people.
 The Message Says:

You’re here to defend the defenseless,
to make sure that underdogs get a fair break;4 Your job is to stand up for the powerless,
and prosecute all those who exploit them.”

This is what God is Caling the Church to do. I have for the Past YEAR, to year and a half felt this Tug on my Spirit.

The Study Guide asks for you to figure out a personal mission statment.

That is REAL easy for me since I have already figured that out.

It was Spoken to me loud in clear in a Song by Lincoln Brewster Called the " Power of Your Name"
The very first time I heard the song.. I knew that, I knew that, I knew, THAT was God's Purpose for my life specifically, the chorus. so, that is my Mission Statement.

It goes like this:

I will live to carry your compassion,
To love a world that's broken,
To be your hands and feet,

I will give with the life that I've been given,
and go beyond Religion,
to see the world be changed,
By the Power of your Name.

It is my desire for that to be my Identity, for People to look at me and see that, not Just who I say I want to be!
